Image
You can now quickly start and share a meeting notes document for your Calendar events. Creating a notes document from Calendar will automatically populate the document with the event information and attach the document to the event. You can also add this same meeting notes template into any doc by typing “@” in the doc and using the drop-down menu. These features are currently only available in Calendar and Docs on the web. Meeting notes are one of the most common use cases in Docs, and an effective way to make meetings a good use of time. However, creating, sharing and finding them later involves several basic repetitive steps, and involves switching between Docs and Calendar. The meeting notes feature is a shortcut to create such documents with some quick clicks. This feature streamlines the creation, sharing and attachment of meeting notes into Calendar events. Avoid ‘Zombie Meetings’ in Your Workspaces with Zoom Rooms

Image
It may sound like something out of a horror movie, but one problem affecting your conference room usage might be zombies. We aren’t referring to the undead monsters that hunger for brains — we’re talking about “zombie meetings.”  A zombie meeting, sometimes called a ghost meeting, is when a conference room is reserved in advance for a meeting, but nobody shows up to use it. This displays the conference room as unavailable (or dead) for others while it’s actually available (or alive), hence the term zombie meeting.   Zombie meetings have existed as long as meeting rooms have been around, but as businesses increasingly occupy more expensive workspaces, these zombie meetings reduce the cost-effectiveness of these spaces. The root of the problem comes down to three combined causes: humans, technology, and the modern workplace. The human element  Today, more employees than ever have flexible work schedules and plans change at a moment’s notice. As many organization...

How to Use (and Remove) Meeting Filters

Ability to mute all Google Meet participants at once rolling out to mobile platforms

Image
Earlier this year, Google announced the ability for meeting hosts to mute everyone all at once in Google Meet on desktops/laptop devices. This change gives the host more control by helping them prevent or stop disruptions coming from unmuted users. Meeting hosts and co-hosts are the only users in a meeting who can use the “mute all” feature. Once all participants are muted, the hosts and co-hosts cannot unmute them. However, users will be able to unmute themselves as needed. Please note: Users joining meetings using Pexip devices will not be muted. This feature is rolling out now on iOS, with availability for Android coming in later in 2021. We’ll provide an update on the Workspace Updates Blog once that becomes available.  Getting started  Admins: There is no admin control for this feature.  End users: This feature will be available by default to meeting hosts. Visit the Help Center to learn more about muting participants in Google Meet.  Roll-out  pace...
