Use Smart Fill to help automate data entry in Google Sheets

Image
A feature which detects and learns the habits between columns to autocomplete data entry smartly. For instance, if you have a column of full names, you may want to break it into a column with first names and a column with last names. When you start typing first names into a column, Sheets will automatically search for patterns. If Sheets senses a sequence, the subsequent formula is produced and then the rest of the column is auto-completed for you. We hope it will be beneficial just as email smart compose who helped to save your time and also to produce an outcome with less errors. Smart Fill can also use data from Google's Knowledge Graph in addition to using data that is in a sheet. For example, to autocomplete a list of countries where a list of cities are located, it can use public data. For admins & end users the feature will be on by default. Smartfill is available to Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Sta...

Lock files via the Google Drive API to prevent content edits

You can also add and delete content constraints using the Drive API. Any file form in the Drive can be "locked" by using the new ContentRestriction API, prohibiting modifications to the content, title, and comments of a document. Content limitations can be enabled or disabled via the API, and any user who has at least an editor permission level for the item can uninstall them via Google Drive on the web. Reasons to use Drive API Although the shared editing and commenting capabilities of Google Drive are always useful and advantageous, it is sometimes necessary to realize that no improvements to a document are being made. It can help to do this by locking a file with the ContentRestriction API which can be used for. Lock authoritative versions of documents to create “official” or “final” documents for record keeping.  Prevent changes to documents that are involved in a workflow, automation, or business process.  Freezing activity on a document for a period of reviews o...

Mention a user directly within a Google Doc

Image
You can now directly mention a user within a doc, previously it was only in a comment. As always Google comes up with features where it saves your time & increases your efficiency.  If another user is specified, for details about them and recommended actions such as adding the person to contacts or reaching out by email, you can toggle over their name. In other Google Workspace applications, such as Gmail or Calendar, this is the same detail you see now while clicking over the name of a person. Notice that it won't give them a notification once you mention anyone in a document. In addition, if you discuss a person who does not have access to the doc, you will obtain a recommendation for sharing suggestions. You may share or reject the document at that time and use the standard sharing feature of Docs when the time is right. Once you click @ sign, a dropdown will appear where you can select the user you want. This feature is available to Essentials, Business Starter, Business...

Sharing our data privacy commitments for the AI era

Image
More and more companies want to adopt the latest cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies, but they are subject to an increasing array of data privacy regulations. This is an important concern for customers, who are interested in using AI and ML systems to drive better business outcomes while complying with new data privacy laws. Today we’re outlining how our AI/ML Privacy Commitment reflects our belief that customers should have both the  highest level of security  and the highest level of control over data stored in the cloud. As Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian recently  shared , we have heavily invested in providing customers with the capabilities they need to prevent unauthorized access to their data.  “This [AI/ML Privacy Commitment] is the first of its kind in the industry, and demonstrates the company's focus on building trust with customers,” said Nick McQuire, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Research - CCS Insi...

New features to help improve and analyse data in Google Sheets

Image
What can you think when it comes to smart clean up in sheets? This update will help you to update & analyse data in a sheet. Cleanup suggestions - This helps to ensure that the information is correct by finding and recommending solutions for frequent data errors. Column stats - Offers automatic information about the values inside a column, so you can spot outliers and easily get an understanding of what the data looks like. Importance These features support in detecting potential cleanup activities and help you to be more sure that simple errors do not affect your results. By creating intelligent views that can help surface insight, it would also encourage faster analysis, which you will then choose to explore more closely. Security-at-scale: 10 new security and management controls

Image
With so many people working remotely, it's imperative that the tools we use to stay productive are secure. Already  this year  we have worked to strengthen security for our customers and help make  threat defense  more effective.  Today, we’re sharing new advancements that provide robust controls, enable automation, and simplify managing security-at-scale with both G Suite and Google Cloud Platform.  Enabling extensibility through APIs First, let’s take a look at enabling extensibility with APIs with the general availability of both  Cloud Identity groups API  and  service account API access  for Cloud Identity customers. We recognize that some Google Cloud customers rely heavily on groups but are not G Suite administrators. We are now enabling programmatic access to manage groups without requiring admin roles with Cloud Identity groups API. With this feature, we’ve expanded access to non-admin service accounts and users as group owners ...
