Using Docs, Sheets, and Slides, we make it easy to access, edit, and collaborate on Microsoft Office files sent and received on Gmail. We're adding, with this launch:
Open Office files in Docs, Sheets, or Slides with one click - You will see an edit icon anytime you send or receive an email with an Office file attached, which will open the file directly in Docs, Sheets, or Slides while conserving its original file format.
Easily reply to the email from within the file - When the file is opened, from the File menu in Docs, Sheets, or Slides, you will have new options to react to the email thread.
Reasons to use this feature
This option will let anyone view, edit & collaborate on MS files emailed straight away in Docs, Sheets & Slides. This can be named as a very efficient way. Previously, users would have to save a file to Drive before being able to use G Suite’s Office editing features. This launch makes things easier to open & reply to mail threads which contain office files.
