What no-code automation looks like with AppSheet

Image
As developers, we talk about automation in the context of technology as often as your friends might talk about Bitcoin — and for good reason: automation has spanned the farthest corners of cloud computing, from infrastructure as code, container orchestration, and DevOps to machine learning and even billing management. It’s making life easier for infrastructure operators, developers, SecOps engineers, and cloud admins by saving them time, which, as we all know, is a finite resource.   More recently, automation has played a pivotal role in not just productivity gains, but also democratizing technology for citizen developers. Google Cloud AutoML for example, has lowered the barrier to entry for machine learning through pre-built models and automated model creation. And now AppSheet is taking the baton and bringing automation to its platform with the GA release of AppSheet Automation. AppSheet is Google Cloud’s intent-aware, no-code application development platform that lets you c...

Use Google Maps in the quick access side panel

Image
Google Maps is now included in the easy access side panel. This means you can use Google Maps to view and research location information on the same phone, making it easier to:  View location data such as location, hours of operation, and user feedback. Be sure you're adding a Calendar event to the correct location. Get travel times and directions to an upcoming event venue so you can schedule your journey ahead of time. You should schedule trips on your calendar to ensure that you arrive on time. For a more accurate estimation of travel time, traffic and transport estimates for the event's predicted time are used. The easy access side panel will now help you browse your Calendar when in other Google Workspace applications, take notes, track your projects, and more. You'll be able to display more detail without moving backgrounds or using different tabs if you use Maps in the side window. It would be easier to schedule and engage in timely activities as a result of this. Adm...

New Rules homepage in the Admin console makes security simpler

Image
In the Admin console, Google is now making some changes to how rules are created, viewed, and managed. We are, in particular, Making all Google Workspace customers have access to the Rules homepage.  To make rule discovery and management simpler, we've combined the laws and security rules sections. Customers of Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus now have access to a rule templates tab, which allows them to easily set up guidelines for common use cases. The Investigation Tool, which is now open to Enterprise Plus clients, now includes one-click rule review. Google hopes that this knowledge will make it easier for administrators to choose which policies to enforce ahead of time, to retain with unified control, and to investigate with direct Investigation tool integration. Additionally: Admins can learn about the advantages of allowing rules, as well as how to manage alerts and email updates with Google-provided rules, on the new Rules homepage. Defining alerts for particu...
