New Rules homepage in the Admin console makes security simpler

In the Admin console, Google is now making some changes to how rules are created, viewed, and managed. We are, in particular,

  • Making all Google Workspace customers have access to the Rules homepage. 
  • To make rule discovery and management simpler, we've combined the laws and security rules sections.
  • Customers of Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus now have access to a rule templates tab, which allows them to easily set up guidelines for common use cases.
  • The Investigation Tool, which is now open to Enterprise Plus clients, now includes one-click rule review.


Google hopes that this knowledge will make it easier for administrators to choose which policies to enforce ahead of time, to retain with unified control, and to investigate with direct Investigation tool integration.


Additionally:
  • Admins can learn about the advantages of allowing rules, as well as how to manage alerts and email updates with Google-provided rules, on the new Rules homepage.
  • Defining alerts for particular audit log incidents, protecting confidential content, automating decisions on specific tasks, and preserving devices are all advantages of making personalized rules for other use cases.
For Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus admins:

A new Rules Templates page has been added to the site. These pre-made models can be customized to automatically set up guidelines for common use cases based on best practices. Preventing the exchange of confidential personal, financial, or health information is an example of this.
Google has also added one-click rule overview of activity and data security guidelines, as well as investigation tool integration, to the list view for Enterprise Plus customers.
