Use Google Maps in the quick access side panel

Google Maps is now included in the easy access side panel. This means you can use Google Maps to view and research location information on the same phone, making it easier to:

  • View location data such as location, hours of operation, and user feedback.
  • Be sure you're adding a Calendar event to the correct location.
  • Get travel times and directions to an upcoming event venue so you can schedule your journey ahead of time. You should schedule trips on your calendar to ensure that you arrive on time. For a more accurate estimation of travel time, traffic and transport estimates for the event's predicted time are used.
The easy access side panel will now help you browse your Calendar when in other Google Workspace applications, take notes, track your projects, and more. You'll be able to display more detail without moving backgrounds or using different tabs if you use Maps in the side window. It would be easier to schedule and engage in timely activities as a result of this.

Admins: All apps with Calendar and Maps available will have this option enabled by default. If a user has Maps disabled, their experience will not be affected, and they will not see Maps in the side window.

End users: To use Maps, click on the location of any Calendar event if your admin has approved it for your domain.
